Alexandra Varela
Writer
As a Venezuelan and a migrant myself, I understand the challenges and hopes that come with building a new life in a different country.
Writer at Saavedra & Perez Law
As a Writer, I focus on drafting client declarations and cover letters. My main responsibility is to ensure that each document authentically reflects the client’s voice and details while meeting the necessary requirements for the specific type of case. The most important part of my work is to respect and convey their stories with empathy and clarity, making sure their experiences are accurately and compellingly represented.
My work involves carefully listening to each client’s experiences, capturing the crucial details that will shape their immigration case. I transform personal testimonies into effective legal documents that clearly communicate their circumstances and needs to immigration authorities.
Why immigration law matters to me
Working in immigration law is deeply personal to me because, as a Venezuelan and a migrant myself, I understand the challenges and hopes that come with building a new life in a different country. My own experiences, as well as those of my family, have shown me how vital it is to have support and a sense of stability when seeking new opportunities. By focusing my career on helping people share their stories, I aim to give a voice to those who need it most. These narratives of struggle, resilience, and hope resonate with me on a profound level, and I find purpose in ensuring they are told with clarity, respect, and empathy.
Where do I feel like I belong?
I feel like I belong in big cities, and Bogotá, where I live, offers me that sense of connection. I know I belong here because I can meet people from different cultures, hear their stories, and engage in diverse cultural activities that constantly inspire me. The energy of a big city, with its mix of perspectives, opportunities, and vibrant experiences, makes me feel like I’m part of something dynamic and evolving.
What brings me joy
One of my greatest passions is experiencing stories, whether through cinema, literature, food, or the people I meet. Movies transport me to different places and cultures, capturing unique perspectives and emotions, much like the real-life stories I encounter in my work. Similarly, food has the power to take me on a journey, allowing me to explore traditions and histories through flavors.
My favorite thing about the work I do is hearing stories that connect me to my purpose of helping others achieve their dreams. I often say that I like to be the bridge that helps people move forward, and I truly enjoy being part of that journey. Writing is my passion, and I love using it to give a voice to people’s dreams and future goals, making sure their stories are heard with clarity, respect, and empathy.
