Gabriela Amaral
Law Clerk
My favorite thing about my work is helping our clients navigate challenging, stressful processes with reassurance and clarity.
Law Clerk at Saavedra & Perez Law
As a Law Clerk, I support our attorneys with legal research and drafting. I research the laws, regulations, and court decisions that shape each case, and I draft motions, briefs, and other legal documents for attorney review. I also review filings to make sure they are accurate and meet court and agency requirements before they are submitted. When a client has a hearing, I help our attorneys prepare by organizing evidence and exhibits so the case is presented as strongly as possible.
My favorite thing about my work is being able to help our clients navigate challenging and stressful processes and giving them reassurance and clarity along the way.
Why this work matters to me
We live in a time when the freedom, respect, and dignity of each person are being challenged. Helping my clients navigate the U.S. immigration system is my way of standing up for people who are looking for a better life. I hope to use what I know to build communities of support for all immigrants and to help make the U.S. a welcoming and safe place for everyone.
Where do I feel like I belong?
Every few months, two of my very best friends and I get together for a “girls’ weekend,” since we live a bit far apart. Each time we’re together, I feel a true sense of belonging.
My favorite things
My current favorite meal is the “Baan” salad and the drunken noodles from Thai Diner, one of my favorite restaurants. I also love almond milk lattes and chats with my mom, walking over the Williamsburg Bridge on nice days, bagels on Saturday mornings with friends, solo movie dates, throwing costume parties, collaging, and amateur embroidery.
