Shelsy Landero
Immigration Filing Coordinator
Working in immigration law is personal to me. My family has migrated to several countries, and I have too.
Immigration Filing Coordinator at Saavedra & Perez Law
As an Immigration Filing Coordinator on our removal defense team, I prepare and coordinate filings for immigration court and USCIS. I assemble each client’s filing package, including forms, cover letters, and supporting documents, and I check every detail to make sure the information is accurate and complete before it goes to the attorney for review. I also submit online filings and request clients’ immigration records from government agencies when their case needs them.
My favorite thing about my work is being able to help. Knowing that careful preparation can make a real difference in a client’s case is what motivates me every day.
Why Immigration law matters to me
Immigration is a personal topic for me. My family has migrated to several countries, and so have I. I watched my family navigate the uncertainty of the U.S. immigration system, and that is why I earned my BA in Political Science. I wanted to help families going through the same system my family once did, and to help make legal, safe migration more understandable and accessible.
Where do I feel like I belong?
The forests in the north of my country. I love the stillness and the quiet that surrounds me there. Forests are so vast that I always feel like I’m part of something bigger than myself.
My favorite things
I love listening to vinyl, reading, and trying new food. My favorite meal has to be the carbonara a friend made me one night after a Paramore concert. My favorite places to visit are the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the MoMA in New York, but spending time in the forest and enjoying the silence it brings is number one on my list.
